While doing oil pressure things last night, I scoped out the rear motor mount, thinking about finaly installing the rear motor mount insert.

One problem... I can't even determine where the rubber motor mount IS! (I can see the large metal parts, of course.)

    A little help? Anyone?

    Thanks,

    Greg

There it is! Its that round looking black piece near the firewall, jus unbolt the WHOLE bracket, and use the inserts. I had a mechanic do this, but the mount is similiar in design to the front two. IF YOU CAN GET TO IT! smile

    Holden:

It's very hard to see the rubber mount with it still installed. You'll need a 17mm socket for the long bolt which goes through the mount and a 14mm socket for the 3 bolts that hold the mount itself to the beam. Once it's out, you're home free. It's kind of a pain to get the 17mm bolt back through the mount though. You won't need any of those goofy wire ties on the rear mount 'cause the outer parts of the stock mount sandwiches it in. Tip: Spray some silicone lubricant on both sides (outside) of the ES mounts so they don't squeak.

    Good luck. Tom

call me stupid, but if you take the bolt out of the rear or fronts, is there any chance of the engine dropping and never getting the bolt back though. I have the ES sitting here, but have no idea how to install them as of yet.. especially the rear with the blower in the way......................HELP

The mounts that the inserts go into (L,R,Rear) don't support the weight of the engine. They are torque mounts, meant to control rocking of the engine.

In other words, the engine doesn't fall out if you remove these mounts temporarily.

thanks holden...whats the easiest way to do it, put it on a lift, i know the rear, i would have to have it on a lift, cuz the blower is very close to this mount, and is hard to get up in there, any easier suggestions, and tools required is appreciated.

You don't need a lift. All that will do is make the job more comfortable.

The passenger side mount is easy. Typical socket and box wrenchs are all that's needed.

The driver side mount is a little harder. After you remove its' bolts, you need to lower that side of the engine a few inches by loosening the nuts on the driver side motor mount (the weight bearing one) in order to have room to remove the torque mount.

Getting it off is easy while it's still mushy, but once the insert is in, it's hard to get back on. Muscles definitely involved here! (A crowbar too, in my case.)

The rear one I haven't done yet, but it looks easier than getting the damn oil pressure sender off the block (last night's fun). Again, a lift will just make you more comfortable. It won't help with tool clearances.

    Later,

    Greg
